These Terms are a contract between you and the entity identified above (“we”). By creating an account or using cahpaz, you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use cahpaz.
1. The service
cahpaz is a web app (PWA) for organising chores in shared houses: creating chores, distributing them automatically in turns, sending reminders, swapping turns, marking absences and viewing the history.
cahpaz is an organising tool. It doesn't check whether chores were actually done, isn't part of rental contracts or agreements between the people in a house, and doesn't replace conversation between them.
We may improve, change or stop offering features. If a change significantly reduces the service you paid for, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16. If you're under 18, you need permission from whoever holds parental responsibility for you to buy a subscription.
- Use truthful information and one account per person.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what is done with your account, unless you tell us about misuse.
- You can delete your account at any time by asking us by email.
3. Houses, admins and invites
- Whoever creates a house becomes its admin. Admins can create, edit and delete chores, remove people, make others admins and generate a new invite link.
- Anyone with the invite link can join the house. Only share it with people who live with you, and generate a new one if needed.
- By joining a house, you accept that the other people in it see your activity there, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
- You can leave a house whenever you want. What you did while you lived there stays in the house's history.
4. Rules of use
You're responsible for what you write in cahpaz (house and chore names, swap messages, absence reasons). You may not:
- Post offensive, threatening or discriminatory content, or harass other people.
- Use cahpaz to pressure, control or monitor anyone.
- Write other people's personal data without need, or sensitive data.
- Use cahpaz for illegal purposes.
- Try to access accounts or systems without authorisation, use bots or scrape data.
- Resell, copy or commercially exploit the service.
If these rules are broken, we may remove content and suspend or close accounts, telling you whenever reasonable.
5. Reminders and availability
Reminders depend on your device, the permissions you gave, the operating system and third-party services that deliver notifications. So we can't guarantee they'll always arrive, or arrive on time.
Everyone remains responsible for their own chores and for the agreements they have with their house. We're not responsible for chores left undone, disagreements between housemates, damage to the house or problems with the landlord.
We do our best to keep cahpaz available, but there may be interruptions for maintenance or due to technical failures.
6. Subscription and payments
- Creating a house requires a subscription. One subscription covers the whole house: people you invite join without paying.
- The price is shown before you pay, taxes included. In Portugal you pay by card, through Stripe; in Mozambique, by mobile payment, through PaySuite.
- Card payments renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Mobile payments (PaySuite) don't renew on their own: to continue, you pay for the next period.
- A house is active while at least one person in it has an active subscription. If nobody does, the house is paused: everything stays visible, but no changes can be made and no reminders are sent until someone renews. No data is lost.
- If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days in advance. The new price only applies from the next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
7. Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds
- You can cancel at any time in the Subscription tab. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid, and you keep access until then.
- Right of withdrawal: as a consumer, you have 14 days from purchase to withdraw, without giving a reason. Because the service starts straight away at your request, if you withdraw within that period we refund what you paid, minus the share for the time already used.
- Otherwise, periods that have already started are not refunded, except where the law requires it or where cahpaz doesn't work for reasons attributable to us.
- To withdraw or ask for a refund, email us at the address on this page.
8. Intellectual property and content
cahpaz (software, design, brand and logo) belongs to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it in line with these Terms.
The content you create remains yours. You allow us to store it, process it and show it to the people in your house, only to provide the service.
9. Liability
cahpaz is provided as is and as available, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee that it will work without interruptions or errors.
We're not responsible for indirect damage, such as lost profits or lost opportunities, or for the acts of people in your house or of third-party services. In any case, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid cahpaz in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to it.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it, in particular for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or your consumer rights that can't be waived by contract.
10. Suspension and ending the contract
- You can stop using cahpaz and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or close an account in case of serious or repeated breach of these Terms, fraud, or a legal requirement, telling you whenever possible.
- If we stop offering cahpaz, we'll tell you at least 30 days in advance and refund the unused part of periods already paid.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If the changes are important, we'll tell you at least 30 days in advance, in the app or by email. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
12. Applicable law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and can go to that country's courts, as the law provides. If you use cahpaz from Mozambique, this includes the Consumer Protection Law (Law No. 22/2009).
If you have a problem, talk to us first: almost everything can be solved by email.
For consumer disputes, you can use an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) entity, such as CNIACC, the National Centre for Consumer Dispute Information and Arbitration (www.cniacc.pt). The full list of these entities is at www.consumidor.gov.pt.
